Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Kathmandu Metro is one of the main local governments in Nepal. It is the capital city and the oldest metropolitan area in the country. Kathmandu is rich in ancient arts, architecture, heritage, culture, and traditions. As one of the oldest cities in Nepal, it is the main cultural and economic center with the best infrastructure. Kathmandu is important for tourism, the economy, and cultural heritage. It is the main urban area in the Kathmandu Valley, with two nearby sister cities, Patan (Lalitpur) and Bhaktapur. The city is also known as 'KTM'.

Kathmandu Metropolitan has 32 ward offices. According to the 2078 National Census, it has a population of 862,400 people. The literacy rate in Kathmandu Metro is 90.5%. The eastern border connects with Gokarneshwor, Kageshori Manohara, and Bhaktapur Municipality. The western border connects with Nagarju and Chandragiri Municipality. The northern border connects with Tarkeshwor, Tokha, and Budhanilkantha Municipality. The southern border connects with Kirtipur Municipality and Lalitpur Metro.
