Thapathali Engineering Campus is a famous engineering college in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is proud to be the first campus under Tribhuvan University to grant engineering degrees in the country. It offers different engineering and architecture courses to help students develop successful careers. It is established in 1973 AD to provide the best engineering courses in Nepal at reasonable prices. 

Historical Background

The Technical Training Institute was inaugurated on 29th Falgun 2023 B.S. by the Late King Mahendra and the Late Dr. Heinrich Lubke, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Technical Training Institute initially offered a range of mid-level courses in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Drafting.

The Technical Training Institute Project was established in Nepal, with the help and cooperation of the Government of Germany, in 2019 B.S. (1963 AD) to train technicians and tradespersons to support the country's development.

Initially, Thapathali Campus was named the Technical Training Institute (TTI). Later, this campus was renamed the Institute of Engineering at Tribhuvan University in 1973 AD. This three-year proficiency certificate-level course was initiated in 1977, targeting SLC students. 

During this period, in 1987 AD, the campus introduced three-year diploma courses in Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering. In 2002 AD, Electronics and Computer Engineering programs were introduced as diploma courses.

After changes in IOE policies, the campus started offering bachelor-level programs, too. Consequently, Industrial Engineering was added in 2006 AD. It introduced Civil Engineering in 2009 AD, Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2010, and Mechanical Engineering in 2011 AD. However, the campus discontinued the intake of new students for diploma courses in 2014 AD.

Since then, it has grown with the addition of new programs over time, such as a Bachelor in Architecture, and a Master's in Earthquake Engineering in 2015 AD. Similarly, this campus offers a Bachelor of Automobile Engineering in 2016, and a Master of Mechanical Design & Manufacturing in 2017. The latest, a Master of Science in Informatics and Intelligent Systems Engineering was initiated in 2020 AD.

Fee Structure of Thapathali Campus

Thapathali Campus offers reasonable costs for its students. The fee structure of this college depends upon the faculty. For the bachelor level, the fee is approx. 8 to 15 lakh. Similarly, the master level cost is approx. 6 to 10 lakh. (It may vary. Please! check the campus website.)
