Kirtipur Municipality

Kirtipur Municipality is one of the municipalities among 11 local bodies in Kathmandu. This municipality was named after the famous historical city of Kirtipur. It is located in the southwest part of Kathmandu. Kirtipur Municipality was established in 2053 by combining former Layaku, Chhithu Bihar, Palifal, Bahiri Gaun, Panga Bishnudevi, Panga Balkumari, Chobhar, & Champa Devi villages. Newar is the main ethnicity in Kirtipur. Kirtipur city is very famous commercially. Here there is easy access to various industrial factories, road traffic, market arrangements, water supply, electricity and communication. Also, the oldest educational institution in Nepal is Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur. In the history of Nepal, Kirtipur has been rich in art and culture since the Malla period.

There are 10 ward offices in Kirtipur. The total area of Kirtipur Municipality is 14.76 Sq. KM. The eastern border is connected with Lalitpur Metro City. Similarly, The western border is connected with Chandra Giri Municipality. additionally, the southern border is connected with Dakshikali Municipality & northern border is connected with Kathmandu Metro City.

Kirtipur, Panga, Chobhar, Bhajangal, Toudah, Tangla Phant, Champadevi, Nagaon, Salyansthan, New Bazar and Bhaktyapati are the major places of this municipality.
