Shailung Rural Municipality is located in the Dolakha district of Bagmati Pradesh, Nepal. Sailung is a naturally beautiful, historical, & tourist place. It is the faith centre of Buddist, Hindu, and other religions. This Rural Municipality is named after the famous Shailung. It is established in 2073 BS. During the state structure after the new constitution, i.e. during the implementation of federalism, based on the information published in the gazette by the Government of Nepal on the 27th of Falgun 2073, this rural municipality was established by adjusting the former Dhudh Pokhari, Bhusfeda, Baghkhor, Magpauwa, Katakuti, Fasku, & Bhaise village development committees.

The eastern border is connected with Bhimeshwor Municipality, Baiteshwor & Tamakoshi Gaupalika. Similarly, Sindhupalchok & Ramechhap is in the western part of Shialung. The northern border is connected with Bhimeshwor Nagarpalika & Sindhupalchowk. And, The southern border is associated with Melung Gaupalika & Ramechhap district.
