Irkhu falls under ward number 8 of Chautara Sangachok Gadhi municipality of Sindhupalchok district. Wards 1-9 of the former Irkhu Village Development Committee have now been converted into Ward 8. This ward is located at a distance of about 8-10 km from the headquarters of Chautara Bazar. The main road of Chautara passes through this ward.
