Chautara is the headquarter of Sindhupalchowk district. And, it falls under ward no.5 of Chautara Sangachowk Gadhi Municipality. The total area of this ward is 9.65 square kilometres.
Chautara (ward 5) is formed by combining wards no. 3, 4 and 7 of the former Chautara Municipality. The east border of this ward is connected with Kubinde and the west is connected with pipal Danda. Similarly, The north and south border are connected with Syaule/ Batase and Irkhu respectively.
