Ward No. 3, Bhotang

Bhotang is located in ward number 3 of Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality. Panchpokhari, a famous religious and tourist site of Nepal, is located in the same ward.

The eastern border of Bhotang is connected with Langtang National Park. And the western border is connected with Baruwa and Thangpaldhap. Similarly, Baruwa is on the northern border of this ward and Thangpal Kot is on the south.

The famous place in Sindhupalchok district is Panchpokhari, the snow lake located at the ninth highest place in the world. It is at an altitude of about 4100 meters. This ward is full of many interesting places. Apart from Panchpokhari, there are other historical places like Haweli, Dupwang, Amilo Pani, and Dragon Cave.

Bhotang village produces the most potatoes. The total area of ​​this ward is 28.52 square kilometers. In terms of employment, most of the people here have gone for foreign employment. Similarly, the rest of the people make their living in business, farming, and animal husbandry.

 It is understood that the word Bhotang is formed from "Bhe" and "Tang". 'Bhe' means hidden place and 'Tang' means sacred. In the Tamang language, "Bho" and "Tang" are believed to be combined to form Bhotang. In which 'Bho' means “Bhote” and 'Tang' means “mercenary”. The name of this place came to be Bhotang because some people came from Bhot and engaged in the mercenary business.

 According to the household survey conducted by the rural municipality in 2074/2075, the number of households here was 954, and the total population was 4813, while the number of women was 2,303 and men were 2,510. Most of the Tamang and Hyolmo people live here. The population density of this ward is 168.16 per square kilometer.
