Shambhu Tamang was a famous Nepali Mountaineer who was born in Lisankhu, Sindhupalchok, Nepal. He held the world record as a young mountaineer who successfully Climbed Mt. Everest on 1957 May 5. He was 17 years old at that time. He tried to climb mountains from a young age. Finally, he managed to climb Mount Everest at a young age with the Italian climbing team. He was the founder member of the Nepal Mountaineering Association and Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology.
Childhood & Education
Shambhu Tamang was born in a middle-class family in Sindhupalchok, Lisankhu. His father used to go out of the village for work. He studied at Budhodaya Secondary School in the village. He completed his secondary education at Shanti Vidya Griha. He was hard working person in nature. He had reached Italy to attend a course on mountain climbing. He collected a lot of information and experiences about the mountains and tourism of Nepal.

Shambhu Tamang's mother's name is Mankumari Lama and his father's name is Pema Siddhi Lama. He has four brothers and three sisters. He was married to Karuna Lama. Tamang has a son (Siddhartha Tamang) and a daughter (Shwetanshu Tamang).
Career of Mountaineering
- In 1971, the entire climbing team returned from near the summit of Mt. Makalu
- In 1972, the entire climbing team returned from near the summit of Mount Everest
- In 1973, a successful ascent of Mount Everest with an Italian climbing team (the record for the world's youngest climber of Mount Everest)
