Dorje Lakpa is one of the major attractions in the Lantang & Jugal Ice Range. It is located on the border of Sindhupalchowk & Rasuwa in Nepal. It covers Jugal, Gosai Kunda, Panch Pokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality. It is in approx. 4 KM southwest from the highest peak of the Jugal Ice Range. It lies at 28º 10' 26" Latitude & 85º 46' 52" Longitude. The Peak ID is DORJ. It is open to climb.
Its height is 6966 meters / 22854 feet. Climbers climb this mountain every year. Most of the ascent of this mountain, which is also in the Sindhupalchok district, is from the Rasuwa side. Dorje Lakpa Mountain looks like a pyramid. In terms of distance from Kathmandu, Dorje Lakpa is one of the closest mountains. Uncertain weather, variability of snow, and climbing routes are the main challenges of this mountain. This Himalaya is technically considered to be some risky mountain climbing.
According to the information available on the Nepal Himal Peak Profile website, the royalty fee for Nepalese (NRs): NRs 5000 in spring, NRs 2500 in autumn and NRs 1250 in winter and summer for expeditions. And, Foreigners (USD): USD 400 in spring, USD 200 in autumn and USD 100 in winter and summer for expedition.
The first ascent of Dorje Lakpa Mountain took place on October 18, 1981. A team including Kunio Katok, Makoto Abe, Kazunari Murakami, Aichi Shingyoji, and Pemba Tsering Sherp climbed this mountain for the first time.
