Sindhupalchok district has two representative assembly constituencies toward the federal parliament. There are four provincial assembly constituencies towards the provincial parliament. There were a total of 260,273 voters in Sindhupalchok in Parliament & Provincial Election 2079.
With the end of the 5-year term determined by the constitution, the elections of both levels were completed on Mangsir 4, 2079, in a single phase for the selection of new representatives in the federal and provincial parliaments. Parliament & Provincial Election Result 2079
Like all over the country, Sindhupalchok district election, Left Democratic Alliance (Congress – Maoist- others), UML, National Democratic Party (RaPraPa), National Independent Party (Rashtriya Swatantra Party), and other parties were in the election field.
Agni Prasad Sapkota of the Maoist Center won Constituency No. 1 in Sindhupalchowk in the 2074 election and Ser Bahadur Tamang of UML won Constituency No. 2.
In the 2079 election, Madhav Sapkota "Subodh" of the Maoist center won Constituency No. 1 and Mohan Basnet won Constituency No. 2. The candidates of the alliance also succeeded in winning the provincial assembly. A total of 146,304 votes were cast in Sindhupalchowk, which has a total of 260,273 voters.
Parliament Constituency No. 1
Madhav Sapkota of the Maoist Center has won Sindhupalchok Constituency No. 1 from the alliance. He won by getting a total of 30364 votes. His nearest rival Saresh Nepal of UML got 27018 votes. There were a total of 130,709 voters in this area. In which only 69588 (53.285%) votes fell.
Provincial Constituency No. 1(1)
Masina Khadka of Nepali Congress has won in Sindhupalchok Provincial Assembly Constituency No. 1 (1) with 14652 votes. He is the common candidate of the Left Democratic Alliance. His nearest rival, UML's Yudhbikram Tamang, got 13490 votes. There were a total of 66755 voters in this constituency. Out of which only 33871 (50.73%) people voted.
Provincial Constituency No. 1(2)
Saral Sahayatri has been elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly from this constituency. He got 17256 votes and defeated his opposition candidate. His closest rival was Hom Narayan Shrestha of UML. Shrestha got 13013 votes. There were 63954 voters in this Provincial assembly constituency. But only 35717 (55.84%) have voted.
Parliament Constituency No.2
In Sindhupalchok Constituency No. 2, Mohan Basnet of Congress has been elected to the Union Parliament with a huge margin of votes. He won with 39367 votes. His nearest rival Sher Bahadur Tamang has got 27493 votes. There were 129 thousand 564 voters in this region. In this election of 2079, a total of 76716 (59.22%) votes were cast.
Provincial Constituency No. 2(1)
Sindhupalchok Provincial Assembly Constituency No. 2(1) also remained in favor of the Left Democratic Alliance. Yuvraj Dulal of the Maoist center registered victory in this area. He got a total of 20903 votes and defeated his opponent. His nearest rival Aman Singh Tamang of UML got 12139 votes. There were 62972 voters in this region. However, only 37637 (59.67%) voters voted.
Provincial Constituency No. 2 (2)
Krishna Kumar Tamang of Nepali Congress has also been elected in Sindhupalchok Provincial Assembly Constituency No. 2 (2) with 17758 votes. He is the common candidate of the Left Democratic Alliance. His nearest rival Hasta Bahadur Pandit of UML got 16253 votes. There were 66,592 voters in this area. Out of them, 39,079 (5.67%) votes were cast.
