If you have already received your Rastriya Parichaya Patra (National Identity Card) or at least have your NID number, you can now apply for your Voter ID (Matadata Parichaya Patra) online without visiting any office.
The Government of Nepal has enabled online voter registration using your National ID details.
Below are the step-by-step instructions in simple English.
Step-by-Step Process: How to register for Voter ID?
Step 1: Open the Official Voter Registration Website
Go to the official online portal:
Election Commission Nepal (Matadata Namawali):

(Do not search randomly—use the official link only.)
Step 2: Choose “Register New Voter”
On the homepage, select:
New Voter Registration
or
Register with National ID (if available)
This option helps you apply using your NID details.
Step 3: Enter Your National ID Number
You will see a page asking for your:
- Rastriya Parichaya Patra Number (NID No.)
- Date of Birth
- Mobile number
Enter these correctly.
The system will match your details with the National ID database.
Step 4: Verify Your Mobile Number (OTP)
You will receive an OTP code on the mobile number you entered.
- Enter the 6-digit OTP
- Click Verify
Once verified, the voter registration form opens.
Step 5: Fill in Your Personal Details
Your basic details will automatically appear from the National ID, such as:
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Address (Province / District / Municipality)
- Citizenship number (if linked)
Review everything carefully.
If anything is missing, enter manually.
Step 6: Select Your Polling Station
Now choose the location where you want to vote:
- Province
- District
- Municipality / Rural Municipality
- Ward Number
- Nearby Polling Booth (School/Office)
This is where you will vote during elections.
Step 7: Submit the Application
After completing everything:
- Click SUBMIT
- Your application will be recorded in the Election Commission system.
You will receive:
✔️ Application Reference Number
✔️ Confirmation SMS or Email
Save these!
Step 8: Wait for Verification
The Election Office will verify your:
- National ID details
- Citizenship
- Address
- Eligibility (18 years+)
If approved, your Voter ID will be processed.
Step 9: Collect Your Voter ID
You will get a notification to collect your card from:
Your local Election Office
OR
Your Ward Office (depending on municipality)
