Rabindra Dhant was born in Bikat, Bitharchit village of Bajhang district, Nepal. His family struggled financially, and he studied in the village school up to 10th grade. At the age of 16, he left for India, working first as a street laborer in Pithoragarh and later in a tea factory in Delhi.

During this time, Rabindra developed an interest in martial arts. He joined a gym intending to learn karate, but soon discovered MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Without realizing it, he had started a journey that would change his life.

Stepping into MMA

After 5–6 months of karate training, Rabindra shifted to MMA full-time. Within a year, he began competing in amateur fights, winning several matches and eventually securing a gold medal at the Indian Nationals. This earned him a spot in the World Championship.

Rabindra later turned professional, fighting in India and abroad. Although offered Indian citizenship, he chose to represent Nepal. Returning to Kathmandu, he met coach Divish Piya Lama, who became a turning point in his career. Under Lama’s guidance, Rabindra competed in the Nepal Warriors Championship (NWC), winning key fights.

International Success and MFN Title

Rabindra’s career took a big leap when he went to Thailand for advanced training at the renowned Fairtex Gym. Training 4–5 hours a day, he sharpened his skills and gained international exposure.

On August 2, 2025, Rabindra made history by winning the MFN-17 Welterweight Championship, defeating a higher-ranked Indian fighter. He became the first Nepali to claim an MFN title, boosting his professional record to 8 wins and 1 loss. His victory brought pride to Nepal and earned him congratulations from the Prime Minister.
