Luna Luitel is a Nepali nurse, public health researcher, and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Nepal World 2025.
Early Life and Education
Luna Luitel was born and raised in Nepal. At the age of 17, she moved to Australia to pursue higher education. She studied nursing and later advanced her academic journey by completing a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Sydney. Alongside her studies, she gained experience in research work in her field.
Growing up in a spiritual family devoted to Lord Krishna, Luna was inspired by the principle: “Do your duty without attachment to the results.” This philosophy has guided her values, personal growth, and professional pursuits.
Professional Background
By training, Luna is a registered nurse in Australia. She has also worked in public health research, demonstrating her passion for healthcare and community well-being. Beyond her profession, Luna is a certified scuba diver, reflecting her adventurous personality and love for exploration.
Despite being eligible for Australian citizenship, Luna deliberately chose to retain her Nepali citizenship, stating that her Nepali passport is her greatest asset. This decision highlights her strong attachment to her roots and her identity.

Pageantry Journey
Luna’s journey in pageantry began in 2015, when she competed in Miss Teen Nepal and finished as the first runner-up. A decade later, she made a triumphant return to the stage.
On August 30, 2025, she was crowned Miss Nepal World 2025 at the 31st edition of Miss Nepal, held at the Sunrise Convention Centre, Godavari, Lalitpur. Among 26 contestants, Luna stood out for her eloquence, confidence, and clarity of vision.
In addition to the main crown, she also received the Miss DHI subtitle during the competition.
Final Question and Advocacy
During the final round, contestants were asked how they would change the public perception of beauty pageants. Luna responded by emphasizing that beauty contests should go beyond physical appearance and instead be platforms for meaningful causes, purposeful advocacy, and positive social impact. Her answer secured her the national title.
Representation at Miss World
Her life philosophy, expressed as “Learn, Earn, Return,” captures her belief in learning from experiences, earning through service and hard work, and ultimately returning to uplift the community.
