Melung Rural Municipality

Melung is a rural municipality in the Dolakha district of Bagmati province, Nepal. This municipality is famous for its religious, Cultural, Historical & Tourism aspects. This rural municipality is naturally beautiful having amazing natural heritages. The name of this Melung rural municipality is derived from the name of the historical Melung bazaar. 

During the state structure after the new constitution, i.e. during the implementation of federalism, based on the information published in the gazette by the Government of Nepal on the 27th of Falgun 2073, this rural municipality was established by adjusting the former Pawati, Ghyang Sukathokar, Bhedapu, Dandakharka, & Melung village development committees. 

There are 7 ward offices in Melung Gaupalika. The total area of this rural municipality is about 86 square kilometres. 15893 is the total population of this rural municipality. The total literacy rate is 65.2%. 

The eastern border is connected with Tamakoshi Gaupalika. Ramechhap is on the western & southern border of Melung. The northern border is connected with Sailung Gaupalika
