Gaurishankar Rural Municipality is located in the Dolakha district of Bagmati province of Nepal. This rural municipality is a geographical and administrative unit established per sub-section (3) of Article 295 of the Constitution of Nepal. During the state structure after the new constitution, i.e. during the implementation of federalism, based on the information published in the gazette by the Government of Nepal on the 27th of Falgun 2073, this rural municipality was established by adjusting the former Jugu, Jhyangku, Suri, Chankhu, Marbu, Khare, & Gaurishankar village development committees. This village is named after the famous Gourishankar mountain of Dolakha district.
The total area of Gaurishankar is 861 square kilometres. There are 9 ward offices in Gaurishankar. 15995 is the total population of this rural municipality. Most of the land of this village is in high hills and mountains.
The eastern border of Gaurishankar is connected with Solukhumbu & Ramechhap. Similarly, Kalinchok & Bigu are on the western border of this rural municipality. the northern border is connected with China & southern border is connected with Jiri & Baiteshwor Gaupalika.
