Talamarang is the ward no. 6 of Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchowk. Talamarang Village Development Committee of Sabikak is the current Ward No. 6. Its total area is 12.70 square kilometres.
Its eastern border is connected with Melamchi and Duwachaur. And, the western border is connected with Thakani. Likewise, the north and south borders of Talamarang are connected with Helambu Rural Municipality and Sindhukot respectively.
How did this place get its name Talamarang?
According to legend & History, there has been a settlement of the Tamang community in this area since ancient times. The Tamangs of this ward used to cultivate Arum "Pidalu" (Taya) in their fields. This place was called Tayamrang in the Tamang language because it was a place where many Arum 'Pidalu' were planted. It is believed that this Tayamrang was later corrupted and became Talamarang.
