Jiri, Dolakha

Jiri is a beautiful town in the Dolakha district of Nepal, known as the Switzerland of Nepal, due to its natural beauty, mountainous landscape, attractive environment of undulating hills, deep valleys, and snow-capped mountains.

Jiri is known as the "Gateway to Mt. Everest" and was the traditional starting point for the famous Everest Base Camp Trek before the Lukla Airport was built.

Jiri lies at an altitude of 1,905 meters (6,250 feet) and is the easternmost terminus of the highway from Kathmandu. We can travel by local bus, taxi, or Private Vehicle from Kathmandu to Jiri, about 188 kilometers east of Kathmandu.
