Phatakashila belongs to Ward No. 13 of Melamchi Municipality. Its total area is 11 87 square kilometres. This ward was formed by combining wards No. 10 and 11 of the former Melamchi municipality. Before 2071 BS, it was under the Phatkashila Village Development Committee.
The eastern border of Phatkashila is connected with the Indrawati river. And, the western border is connected with Dhand Khola. Similarly, the northern and southern borders are connected with Bansbari and Kavre.
