Gauri Pradhan is a prominent social activist and human rights defender in Nepal as well as in South Asia. He was born on 5 August 1962 in Chautara, Sindhupalchok, Nepal. He has been in this field for over 30 years. He is a former member of Nepal's National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Mr. Pradhan was the coordinator of his NHRI Cooperation International Conference on Migrant Workers' Rights in 2012 which he hosted by NHRC Nepal.
Gauri Pradhan is involved with several national, regional and international civil society organizations (CSOs) for human rights, peace, and social justice. He has been actively involved in advocacy. He will build alliances and oversee the implementation of the Istanbul Plan of Action (IPoA) and other internationally agreed development goals. At the global level, he was also appointed in 2006 to serve as an advisor to the United Nations NGO Commission on Violence against Children. As a member of the Expert Team, he is one of his signatories to the 2019 Abidjan Directive on the Right to Education.
