Nepal Police School (NPS), formerly known as Dipendra Police School (DPS), is a network of regional police boarding schools across Nepal. The school was named after the late Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah of the former Kingdom of Nepal. Founded in 2040 B.S. (1983 A.D.) by the late IGP D.B. Lama, the central school is located at Sanga, Banepa (Kavre), about 21 km east of Kathmandu. The campus covers more than 200 acres of green hills, forest, and orchards, creating an ideal environment for learning and growth.
The school’s motto, “Better Schooling for Ideal Citizens,” reflects its commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and moral education. NPS mainly admits children of Nepal Police personnel, but up to 40% of seats are open to civilian students. Admission is competitive and based on an entrance examination.
Nepal Police School follows the NEB curriculum, offering classes from Grade 4 to Grade 12, and prepares students for the SEE (Secondary Education Examination) and SLC (School Leaving Certificate). It is a co-educational, fully residential institution known for its strict discipline, strong academic foundation, and focus on physical education and athletics.
The school operates under the welfare program of the Nepal Police Organization and is non-profit in nature. While the central governing body is based in Sanga, each of the nine regional schools across Nepal has the autonomy to manage its own operations.
Mission
NPS aims to nurture students with a passion for excellence, strong moral values, and leadership skills. The school encourages creativity, innovation, and a sense of responsibility toward society and the environment. It strives to shape students who are compassionate, confident, and capable of facing challenges in life.
Vision
To transform Nepal Police School into an ideal learning center that develops disciplined, competent, and socially responsible citizens for the nation.
