Jay Bageshwori is the ward no. 8 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Nepal. It is a culturally and religiously important area near the famous Pashupatinath Temple. At the heart of this area is the ancient Jai Bageshwori Temple, believed to be built during the Licchavi period. The temple is dedicated to a powerful goddess who represents Mahalakshmi, Mahakali, and Mahasaraswati. It is known for its traditional festivals like the Trishul Jatra, Navadurga dance, and buffalo sacrifices held every 12 years. There are also other smaller temples and shrines nearby, including a Ganesh temple and Buddhist stupas. The main temple was damaged during the 2015 earthquake, and its reconstruction has faced some issues. Still, Jay Bageshwori remains a lively place where people come to worship, especially during major Hindu festivals like Dashain, Teej, Shivaratri, and Magh Purnima.
The eastern border of Jay Bageshwori is connected with ward no. 6 and Gokarneshwor Nagarpalika. The western border is connected with ward no. 7. Similarly, the northern border is connected with ward no. 7 & 6. The southern border is connected with ward no. 8.
