Tokha Municipality is one of the 10 municipalities in the Kathmandu district of Nepal. it is named after the historical and cultural site of Tokha located in the northeastern region of Kathmandu. This municipality was established on 2071 Marg 16 by adjusting the previous Village Development Committees of Jhoramahankal, Tokha Chandeshwari, Tokha Saraswati, Dhapasi and Gongbu. Budhanilkanth Municipality is in the east of this municipality, Tarakeshwar Municipality is in the west, Nuwakot District is in the north and Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality is in the south.
This municipality extends from 27 degrees 43 minutes 19 seconds north latitude to 27 degrees 48 minutes 50 seconds north latitude and 85 degrees 20 minutes 9 seconds east longitude to 85 degrees 23 minutes 28 seconds east longitude.
Vaudeshwar Mahadev of Jhor Mahan period, Chandeswari and Sapanatirtha temple of Tokha Chandeswari, Bhutkhel Chaur and Masankali temple of Tokha Saraswati, Vasundharadevi of Dhapasi, Manoratha shrine of Gongvu and Bich Vinayak temple are the major religious places here.
There are 9 community schools, 81 institutional schools, 3 alternative schools, and 3 community learning centres, including childcare centres and colleges for higher education. This municipality has 1 regional hospital and 4 health posts, 6 basic health centres 1 urban health centre, and 111 cooperative organizations.
