Jiri Technical School

Jiri Technical School (JTS) is a community-based technical school. It is located in Jiri, Dolakha of Bagmati, Nepal. As we know. Jiri is the Switzerland of Nepal. It is about 200 KM northeast of the Capital Kathmandu. It was established in 1982 as a joint project of the Government of Switzerland & Government of Nepal. It is established to provide the best quality technical education in rural communities in Nepal. Mainly, it provides Health Skills, Construction & Agro skills. It provides various training and self-developing skills.  

Jiri Technical School is affiliated with CTEVT. JTS started their training in February 1984. Seven grade passes were required for admission during the initial phase.  The training period was 3 years in JTS with an additional 10 months of On-The-job-Training (OJT).

Educational History Criteria

A 10th-class pass was necessary for entrance to the Agriculture and Construction disciplines starting in 1990. This resulted in two years of classroom instruction and five months of on-the-job training. From 1993 onward, comparable standards were also established for the health trade. Before 1993, the JTS catchment area was limited to six mid-hill districts in the nation, but it is now open to all districts in Nepal.

Offered Courses

Jiri Technical School offers various types of technical skill-related courses. The list of courses is as follows:

• TSLC in Civil Engineering(Civil Sub-Overseer): To address the need for such technicians in the nation, this curriculum aims at producing entry-level civil engineering human resources (Technician) with the expertise, skills, and mindset. The students, who have passed SEE in any GPA or any grade, can take this subject. However, They should pass the entrance exam held by CTEVT.  This course will be completed within 18 months (40 hrs./week × 39 weeks = 1560 hrs.) class plus 6 months (40 hrs./week × 24 weeks = 960 hrs.) on-the-job training (OJT).
• TSLC in VJTA(Veterinary Science)
• Diploma in Agriculture: JTS offers these courses to produce middle-level first-hand technicians for livestock farms, commercial poultry farms, Piggery, Fish & Fishery, Sheep & Goad Farms, rabbits, Pet Animals & Equine Care Centers & Dairy industries. 
•  Diploma in Civil Engineering: 
• Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Science)
• TSLC in PJTA (Plant Science)
