Basgadhi Municipality

Bansgadhi is one of the local governments in Bardiya, Lumbini Province, Nepal. The municipality is one of the 61 municipalities formed across the country as per the decision of the Government of Nepal (Council of Ministers) dated Mangsir 16, 2071. This municipality was built by incorporating 3 former village development committees including Beluwa, Motipur and Deudhakala. This municipality is located 25 km northeast of Gularia, the headquarters of Bardia district, and the east-west highway passes through this municipality.

Kaprechaur of Salyan and Mankhola of Banke are located in the east of this municipality. Similarly, Ganga River (Bar Bardia Municipality) is located in the west, Bardia National Park is in the north and Badhaiya Tal Rural Municipality is in the south. The area of Bansgarhi municipality is 206 square km. There are 9 ward offices in this municipality.  Geographically, it extends from 81°25' to 81°46' east longitude and 28°13' to 28°24' north latitude. 

 

There are various types of natural and cultural heritages in Bansgarhi municipality. The central area of Bardia National Park, Chepang village, temples, churches and properties like Gumwa are the tourist areas of this municipality. People come from the surrounding areas of the temple to various festivals and festivals. People gather in this area, especially during festivals like Shivratri, Dashain, Maghe Sankranti, and Chaite Dashain. The original culture of Tharujati also carries the specific cultural identity of this region. Kedareshwar Dham located in Ward No. 5 is the main cultural heritage of this municipality.

Babai River, Ganges River, Man River, Dunduwa River, Ghate River, Lauhwa River, Akshekhia River, Shevhang River, Dondre River, Khote River, Bhangaha River, Dobhan River, Chisi River, Chapla River, Fohia River, Kanjarwa River, Boxinia River The major rivers of this province are Lakshmana Lake, Motipur Lake, Damauli Lake, Bansgarhi Lake are the major lakes within the municipality, while Chyma and Ranjha are wetlands.
