Gokarneshwor Municipality is the local government in Kathmandu district, Nepal. It is located in the northern part of Kathmandu and covers an area of 58.50 square kilometers. It was created by merging the former VDCs of Sundarijal, Nayapati, Baluwa, Gokarna, and Jorpati. There are 9 ward offices in Gokarneshwor.
The municipality is bordered by Kageshwari Manohara Municipality and Sindhupalchowk District to the east, Kathmandu Municipality to the west, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk Districts to the north, and Kathmandu Municipality along with Kageshwari Manohar Municipality to the south.
According to the 2078 B.S National Census, its population was 149,366, and recent growth estimates suggest that it now exceeds 200,000. The area is known for its diverse geography, rich cultural heritage, and historical religious sites. Its landscapes include the scenic Bagmati River along with a blend of urban areas and natural features such as forests and riverbanks.
