Chandragiri Municipality

Chandragiri Municipality is located in the Kathmandu district of Bagmati province, Nepal. It is in the western part of Kathmandu. This municipality was established in 2071 Mangsir 16 by joining the former Thangkot, Dahachok, Naikap, Wad Bhangyang, Balambu, Mahadevsthan, Tindhara, Satungal, Matatirtha, Machchhegaun & Purano Naikap Bhanghyang village development committees. A total of 11 VDCs had joined to formulate Chandragiri Municipality. It had 25 ward offices. 

During the state restructuring, this municipality had adjusted to only 15 ward offices. The total area of Chandragiri Municipality is 43.9 square kilometres. It extends from 27 degrees 38' 10" to 27 degrees 43' 38"Northern latitude and 85 degrees 06' 12" East to 85 degrees 16' 30" East Longitude. The highest altitude of this municipality is 2552 metres from sea level. 

The eastern border of Chandragiri Municipality is connected with Kathmandu Metro City & Kirtipur Municipality. Similarly, the western border is connected with Dhunibesi Municipality, Dhading. Additionally, the northern part is associated with Nagarjuna Municipality. Thaha Municipality & Indrasarowar Rural Municipality are in the southern part of Chandragiri Municipality. 

Chandragiri is a tourist place. The famous Chandragiri hill is the major attraction here. Moreover, the Famous Bhaleshwor temple is located on these hills. Every year many domestic & international tourists visit this place. There is the operation of a cable car in Chandragiri to go uphill. Dahachok, Chandika Devi Temple, Ganeshsthan, Thankot, Chandragiri hills, Matatirtha, Machchhe Narayan, Balambu etc. are the major tourist places in Chandragiri.
